POVERTY
Homelessness and poverty are inextricably linked. People who are poor are frequently unable to pay for housing, food, child care, health care, and education.

Rental costs have risen 60% faster than the rate of inflation.
The wait for subsidized housing is more than 8 years, and the waiting list was over 5500 households in 2007.
In York Region, Ontario Works caseloads are up to 20% since the financial crisis hit in July of 2008.
